In this research, in order to synthesize a series of ethyl 2-amino-4-benzoyl-5-oxo-5,6-dihydro-4H-pyrano[3,2-c]quinoline-3-carboxylates, a green and an efficient method is proposed through one-pot three-component reaction of substituted arylglyoxals, ethyl cyanoacetate, and 4-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-one in the presence of terapropylammonium bromide as a catalyst in good yields. All synthesized new substances were characterized by FTIR, H-1-NMR, and C-13-NMR spectral data and elemental analysis.

The electrochemical in-situ oxidative sulfonylation of phenols with sulfinic acids access to sulfonylated hydroquinones has been developed. A series of sulfonylated hydroquinones were prepared under mild mediator-, catalyst- and exogenous-oxidant-free conditions. Notably, such an electrochemical in-situ-oxidative synthetic strategy presented wide functional group tolerance and amenability to gram-scale synthesis with 62-80% yields.

Herein, we report the third-order nonlinear absorption and optical limiting property of fluorinated polymorphic nonlinear optical (NLO) material 1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-(4-fluorophenyl) prop-2-en-1-one (abbreviated as PDPFO) based on reverse saturable absorption. The FTIR studies of optically transparent PDPFO single crystals confirm the presence of various functional groups. PDPFO is optically transparent in the visible wavelength region. The open aperture Z-scan technique showed the intensity-dependent nonlinear absorption. A decrease in normalized transmittance with input intensity indicated the optical limiting behavior at the wavelength 532 nm. The excited-state absorption cross-section value (sigma(ex)= 1.72 x 10(-16) cm(2)) is much greater than ground-state absorption cross-section value (sigma(g)= 2.49 x 10(-22) cm(2)), suggesting that optical limiting phenomena are due to RSA.

A facile and efficient protocol for palladium-catalyzed ortho-acylation of azoxybenzenes has been developed under aqueous conditions. In this process, the alcohols were oxidized into the corresponding aldehydes in situ, which coupled with azoxybenzenes with excellent regioselectivity, affording the acylated azoxybenzenes in moderate to good yields. A variety of functional groups were tolerated in this procedure.

A transition-metal-free method for the alkylation of gem-diborylalkanes with alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones has been developed. It is demonstrated that the alpha-boryl radicals can be generated efficiently from gem-diborylalkanes with the aid of catechol and oxidants. The alpha-boryl radicals formed through such process can be engaged in conjugate addition reaction with alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones. This transformation is a straightforward method for the synthesis of gamma-borylketones.

An efficient protocol for the facile synthesis of a series of pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives has been developed applying Fe3O4-ZnO-NH2-PW12O40 nanocatalyst in water. This novel method has the benefits of operational simplicity, green aspects by avoiding toxic solvents and high to excellent yields of products. Fe3O4-ZnO-NH2-PW12O40 was synthesized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy analyses. The nanocatalyst is readily isolated and recovered from the reaction mixture by an external magnet.

Mild methods to cleave the carbon-oxygen (C-O) bond in alkyl ethers could simplify chemical syntheses through the elaboration of these robust, readily available precursors. Here we report that dibromoboranes react with alkyl ethers in the presence of a nickel catalyst and zinc reductant to insert boron into the C-O bond. Subsequent reactivity can effect oxygen-to-nitrogen substitution or one-carbon homologation of cyclic ethers and more broadly streamline preparation of bioactive compounds. In this study, the aroma profiles of Cabernet Sauvignon wines from a new grape growing region, Loess Plateau, China, were established by gas chromatography-olfactometry, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and sensory analysis. The sensory profiles of wines form five different young vineyards in the Loess Plateau region were obtained by descriptive analysis. Blackcurrant (p < 0.01), pear and dried plum (p < 0.05), mushroom, smoked and green pepper (p < 0.1) had significant differences on the five vineyards. A total of 76 odor-active aroma compounds were identified in the wines, and 45 volatile compounds were selected as those having the greatest impact on the aroma components and these were quantitated by five different methods. In addition, the correlation model of the Loess Plateau region's sensory characteristics and aroma compounds was established by partial least squares regression (PLSR) to determine the influence of various aroma active substances on aroma attributes. (E)-4-Amino-N’-(substituted benzylidene) benzohydrazides (1-8) were synthesized by condensing 4-aminobenzohydrazide with an appropriate aldehyde in the molar ratio of 1:1 in methanol as solvent. Single crystal X-ray diffraction has been recorded for compound 1. For all the synthesized compounds, FT-IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR spectra have been recorded. Also antibacterial and docking studies have been done for all compounds 1-8. Since for compound 1 only single crystal X-ray analysis has been carried out, its structural characterization have been done in detail, characterisation of remaining compounds 2-8 have been carried out by comparing their FT-IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR spectral data with that of compound 1. Single crystal X-ray analysis of 1 show that the compound exists in E-configuration about azomethine double bond. The crystal state of the compound was stabilised by the hydrogen bond present in the molecule. DFT calculations using the B3LYP/6-311++G method have been carried out for 1 to get the optimized geometry, IR and NMR frequencies, Mulliken charge distribution, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) and energies of HOMO – LUMO. A good agreement between the DFT predicted and the experimentally measured IR and NMR spectra of 1 was found. Analysis of MEP and Mulliken atomic charges bar diagram of 1, confirms the chemical reactivity and existence of intermolecular hydrogen bonding of the molecule. The result of antibacterial and antifungal activities shows that the compounds 2, 4, 7 and 8 showed good antibacterial activity against the tested bacteria and the compounds 1, 3, 5 and 6 showed good antifungal activities against all the three fungal strains. These results showed that electron donating and electron withdrawing groups play important roles in antibacterial and antifungal activities of the compounds1-8, respectively. Molecular docking studies of compounds 1-8 shows that the various ligand of compounds 1-8 shows glide score values lies between -5.923 to -7.298, among these the compounds 6 and 8 showed excellent glide score values.
