Computed Properties of C8H8O2. I found the field of Chemistry very interesting. Saw the article Palladium-catalyzed synthesis of spirooxindoles and [3,4]-fused oxindoles from alkene-tethered carbamoyl chlorides published in 2021, Reprint Addresses Chen, C; Zhu, BL (corresponding author), Tianjin Normal Univ, Coll Chem, Tianjin Key Lab Struct & Performance Funct Mol, Tianjin 300387, Peoples R China.. The CAS is 123-11-5. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of 4-Methoxybenzaldehyde.

We disclosed an efficient Pd-catalyzed domino reaction for facile synthesis of spirooxindoles and [3,4]-fused oxindoles from alkene-tethered carbamoyl chlorides. The five-membered C,C-palladacycle obtained through intramolecular C-H activation should act as the key intermediate in both catalytic cycles. A variety of functionalized spirooxindoles and [3,4]-fused oxindoles were synthesized in moderate to good yields.

Uracil compounds participate in a wide range of biological activities; however, reports on their synthesis using heterogeneous catalysts are scarce. In this work, the multicomponent synthesis of uracil derivatives assisted by layered double hydroxides (LDH) was studied under green chemistry conditions. The incorporation of Ni2+ or Co2+ was successfully performed by co-precipitation method. The yields to uracil derivatives are associated with the presence of weak basic sites and a better interaction of the reagents when the reaction is carried out in solvent-free conditions. The reaction pathway involves the formation of an enone between benzaldehyde and ethyl cyanoacetate, and subsequent reaction with urea, which is assisted by the presence of a basic catalyst. The scope of this synthesis is illustrated with nine examples.

We report Pd-catalyzed ortho-C-H methoxylation and chlorination of benzaldehydes by employing monodentate transient directing groups (TDGs) as an alternative strategy to bidentate TDGs. More importantly, a single crystal of benzaldehyde imine ortho-cyclopalladium intermediate was successfully obtained, and its structure was unambiguously determined by X-ray diffraction, which clearly showed that it was a binuclear palladium species bridged by a pyridone ligand. The utility of this approach was further demonstrated through the synthesis of key intermediates of natural products and drugs.

Incorporation of mesopores and active sites into metal-organic framework (MOF) materials to uncover new efficient catalysts is a highly desirable but challenging task. We report the first example of a mesoporous MOF obtained by templated electrosynthesis using an ionic liquid as both electrolyte and template. The mesoporous Cu(II)-MOF MFM-100 has been synthesised in 100 seconds at room temperature, and this material incorporates crystal defects with uncoupled Cu(II) centres as evidenced by confocal fluorescence microscopy and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. MFM-100 prepared in this way shows exceptional catalytic activity for the aerobic oxidation of alcohols to produce aldehydes in near quantitative yield and selectivity under mild conditions, as well as having excellent stability and reusability over repeated cycles. The catalyst-substrate binding interactions have been probed by inelastic neutron scattering. This study offers a simple strategy to create mesopores and active sites simultaneously via electrochemical formation of crystal defects to promote efficient catalysis using MOFs.

A series of novel N’-(2-thiouracil-5-oyl)hydrazones were designed and chemically synthesized using an active substructure combination method. The synthesized compounds were structurally characterized on the basis of elemental (%) analyses, IR, MS, H-1 NMR, and C-13 NMR spectra. All the prepared compounds were evaluated in vitro against MCF-7 human breast cell line using MTT assay. The anticancer results showed that compounds 3j, 4a, 3c, 3b , and 3h exhibit the most prominent effect against breast cancer cell line with IC50 values of 3.40, 3.50, 3.60, 3.70, and 3.80 mu g/ml, respectively using doxorubicin as a control drug. Moreover, molecular docking studies were also performed in order to identify the binding mode mechanism of these compounds with prospective target, thymidylate synthase (PDB:1JU6). On the other hand, the antibacterial activities of all prepared compounds were screened in vitro against three bacterial strains, namely, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa as Gram negative bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus as a Gram positive bacterium using agar well diffusion method. The antibacterial activity results revealed that most of the compounds under test were inactive however, among all the tested compounds, only 3g and 4a , in a concentration of 50 mu g/ml showed a high antibacterial activity against the three used bacterial strained. It is worthy to note that the potency of 3g against Escherichia coli was comparable to that of the reference drug, while compound 2 exhibited significant activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa only and compound 3j displayed low activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The structure-antibacterial activity relationship analysis can be modulated by the presence of aromatic or heteroaromatic moiety containing more lipophilic character significantly contributed to antibacterial activity. In addition, the drug-likeness properties have predicted for the target compounds. (C) 2021 Published by Elsevier B.V.

A one-pot and modular approach to the synthesis of 2,4(5)-disubstituted imidazoles was developed based on ketone oxidation, employing catalytic HBr and DMSO, followed by imidazole condensation with aldehydes. This methodology afforded twenty-nine disubstituted NH-imidazoles (23%-85% yield). A three-step synthesis of 20 kinase inhibitors was achieved by employing this oxidation- condensation protocol, followed by bromination and Suzuki coupling in the imidazole ring to yield trisubstituted NH-imidazoles (23%-69%, three steps). This approach was also employed in the synthesis of known inhibitor GSK3037619A.

A full understanding of changes of the microbiome and metabolome during Napier grass silage in relation to aerobic exposure can improve the nutritional value and extend the aerobic stability of this important feed in tropical and subtropical regions. The round bale silage of Napier grass was prepared with deionized water (control) and screened strains Lactobacillus rhamnosus LR753 (LR753) and L. buchneri 40788 (LB). Silages were stored at ambient temperature (30-40 degrees C) for 60 days, followed by 2 and 4 days of aerobic exposure. Strains LB and LR753 significantly improved aerobic stability (>84 h vs. 18 h of control) of baled Napier grass silage by inhibiting the growth of Saccharomycetales as for the higher production of acetic acid (P < 0.05). Weissella and Issatchenkia spp. were the dominant bacteria and fungi in 60-day silage, respectively. LC-MS/MS detected a total of 426 metabolites throughout ensiling and aerobic exposure. With the decrease of Weissella spp. and the increase of Acetobacter spp., the metabolites associated with both were mainly odor-related (3-methylbutanoic acid, isoquinoline, and cuminaldehyde) and amines (tryptamine and tyramine) in control silage, while more antimicrobial activity metabolites were found in strains LB and LR753-treated silage (methylbutanoic acid, 1,2-propanediol, and tiglic acid). Screened local strain LR753 showed a promising potential for improving silage fermentation and aerobic stability of Napier grass. The present study indicates that adequately describing the microbiome and metabolome of silages during fermentation and aerobic exposure can improve ensiling practices and the screening of silage inoculants that act synergistically with the natural microbiome of the forage in hot and humid areas. Owing to the increasing amount of waste materials around the globe, the conversion of waste or secondary by-products to value-added products for various applications has gained significant interest. Herein, two novel agro-food waste products, Musa sp. ‘Malbhog’ peel ash (MMPA) and Musa Champa Hort. ex Hook. F. peel ash (MCPA) are used as catalysts to promote an inexpensive, efficient and eco-friendly carbon-carbon bond forming crossed aldol reaction at room temperature in solvent free conditions. Furthermore, the resulting products were subjected to reactions with these promoters in an oxygen atmosphere and led to the formation of novel flavone derivatives. Moreover, the used catalysts were properly characterized using different sophisticated analytical techniques such as Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis (BET), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), transition electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) along with element detection using atomic absorption spectroscopy and ion chromatographic methods. These two approaches are metal free, as well as being devoid of any extra additives, co-catalysts, harsh conditions, the use of column chromatography for purification and result in a higher yield of the product within a short space of time. The catalytic abilities of the promoter were also examined to synthesize important bioactive molecules such as butein and apigenin at room temperature. With gram scale synthesis of the chalcone derivatives, the used catalysts (MMPA and MCPA) were further reused for five cycles and did not demonstrate any loss in catalytic activity.

Volatile content during postharvest is a critical factor affecting the quality of rose products. However, changes in the volatile content of cut rose flowers during vase life have not yet been identified although the maturity of flower petals may result in the significant changes of volatile profiles. The present study investigated volatile changes in the petals of two rose varieties, ‘Fuego’ exhibited to longer vase life and ‘Red eagle, during vase life. ‘Fuego’ petals contained 31 volatiles, of which 12 increased and 11 decreased in content during vase life. ‘Red Eagle’ petals contained 37 volatiles, of which 9 increased and 19 decreased. The major components that increased during vase life included 2-ethylhexan-1-ol and phenylmethanol in ‘Fuego’ and hexan-1-ol and 2-phenylacetaldehyde in both cultivars, whereas the major components that decreased during vase life included methyl butanoate in ‘Fuego’, 3,5-dimethoxytoluene in ‘Red Eagle’, and 2-methylhexane in both cultivars. The total volatile content was maintained in ‘Fuego’ petals during the 6-day vase life, despite the changes in the content of individual volatile compound. By contrast, the total volatile content of ‘Red Eagle’ petals significantly decreased during vase life. Additionally, the volatile compounds that increased in content were relatively small molecules (<= C-8), whereas those that decreased in content during vase life were relatively large molecules (>= C-9). These results suggest that the analysis of volatile changes during vase life contribute to the harvest time selection of rose flowers and the determination of petal stages used for essential oil in many rose varieties.
