A practical phosphorylation for generating organophosphates and phosphoramidates via electrochemical dehydrogenative cross-coupling of P(O)H compounds with arenols and anilines is disclosed. This method involves using inorganic iodide salts as both redox catalysts and electrolytes in an undivided cell without the addition of oxidants or bases. A modest, competent and green synthetic procedure for novel coumarinyl-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl-2mercaptobenzoxazoles 8i-t has been reported. Analysis of the docked (PDB ID: 5IKR; A-Chain) poses of the compounds illustrated that they adopt identical conformations to the extremely selective COX-2 inhibitor. The biological outcomes as well as computational study suggested that the compounds originated to have elevated resemblance towards COX-2 enzyme than COX-1. The compounds 8i, 8l, 8q, 8r, 8s and 8t emerged as most potent and selective COX-2 inhibitors in contrast with Mefenamic acid. The selectivity index of 8l, 8n and 8r was respectively found to be 33.95, 20.25 and 24.98 which manifested their high selectivity against COX-2. Interestingly, the compounds which were active as COX-2 inhibitors were also active as antioxidant agents.

The synthesis of aryl phosphonates via nickel and palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of aryl fluorosulfonates and phosphites is described. The products were obtained in good to excellent yields under mild conditions with broad functional group compatibility, employing either Pd(OAc)(2) and DPEPhos or the readily available NiCl2(dme) and Xantphos as catalytic systems. Noteworthily, the present C(sp(2))-P bond formation method could be applied to the direct conversion of phenols to the corresponding aryl phosphonates in one pot via reaction of phenols with SO2F2 and subsequent palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling.

In this work, a series of new 8-[(substituted 2-oxo-2H-chromen-4-yOmethyl]-8-azaspiro[4.5]decane-7,9-dione derivatives (1a – 1l) is synthesized and characterized by H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, FT-IR, GC-MS and elemental analysis. In addition, the structure of compound 1k has been elucidated using single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The synthesized compounds are screened for their anticancer and anti-TB activity. Preliminary anticancer results showed that compounds (1a- 1l) exhibit moderate to potent activity against MDA-MB-231, A549, HT-29 and Hela cancer cell lines. Compound if exhibited the most potent activity against MDA-MB-231cell line with IC50 value of 9.05 mu M concentration, compound lg and 1h showed potent activity against A549 cell line with IC50 value of 7.05 and 13.31 mu M concentration respectively. Compound 1j showed good cytotoxicity against Hela cell line with IC50 of 16.14 mu M, whereas, compound 1l is found to be moderately active against HT-29 cell line with IC50 of 18.07 mu M. Anti-tubercular activity revealed that compound 1c, 1d, 1g, 1h and 1j have significant activity against MTBH(37)Rv strain with MIC 0.78, 1.56, 0.19, 0.39 and 0.78 mu g/mL respectively. Further, to investigate the mechanism of anti-TB activity and detailed intermolecular interactions between the synthesized compounds, molecular docking studies are performed. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. The effect of introducing a lateral methyl substituent and the two different alkoxy terminal groups on the mesophase behavior of three-benzene-ring molecular core of azo-ester compounds bearing 2-methylbutoxy unit on the opposite terminal side (C1-C6) were explored. Their structures were confirmed by several spectroscopic techniques (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, H-1 and C-13 nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy). The mesomorphic properties of these compounds were studied by differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscopy, and small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering. Except for the un-substituted terminals (C1 and C4), all other derivatives are liquid crystalline, exhibiting enantiotropic nematic liquid crystal phase. The alteration of the alkoxy chain length from methoxy to butoxy at the phenyl ester terminal group (ring A) for each set of laterally-neat and laterally methyl-substituted mesogens decreases the nematic temperature range. A decrease in the mesophase temperature range is also observed when a lateral methyl substituent is incorporated into phenylazo ring of the mesogenic core (ring C). Optical study demonstrated that their absorption spectra are identical in shape due to the structural similarities of the mesogenic core. The corresponding fluorescence spectra exhibited blue-emission with the laterally methyl substituted compounds having a relatively higher fluorescence intensity compared to that of its laterally un-substituted analogues. Furthermore, the laterally methyl-substituted derivatives were subjected to the planar alignment and their dielectric and electro-optic properties were investigated. We have developed a Rh(iii)-catalyzed C-H alkenylation reaction of the N,N-bidentate chelating compound 2-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine with alkenes via rollover cyclometalation. A dinuclear molecular cadmium phosphonate, [Cd-2(H(4)tpmm)(2)(Hpybim)(2)(H2O)(4))center dot 2H(2)O (1.2H(2)O), emitting strong luminescence in both solid-state and suspension phases was synthesized by the reaction of Cd(ClO4)(2), 2,4,6-tris(phosphotylmethyl)mesitylene (H(6)tpmm), and 2-(2-pyridyl)benzimidazole (Hpybim) via the slow diffusion of reactants. Complex 1.2H(2)O showed very poor solubility but high chemical stability in common organic solvents and H2O. Furthermore, 1.2H(2)O also revealed good thermal stability upon heating to 325 degrees C. Luminescence detection on a series of phenolic analytes within 5 min response time showed that bisphenol AF (BPAF) and bisphenol B (BPB) significantly reduced the luminescence intensity of 1.2H(2)O in water, with the quenching efficiencies of 77 and 71%, respectively, while bisphenol Z (BPZ) moderately quenched the luminescence of 1.2H(2)O in water by 52%. The Stern-Volmer quenching constant, K-sv, and the limit of detection (LOD) were determined to be 1931 M-1 and 12.8 mu M for BPAF, 515 M-1 and 14.6 01 for BPB, and 2269 M-1 and 3.0 mu M for BPZ. In addition, 1.2H(2)O behaving as a luminescence sensor has an exclusive detection for BPAF, BPB, and BPZ over a wide range of interfering phenolic analytes, with the exception of dopamine toward BPB. This work demonstrates a highly waterstable molecular cadmium phosphonate suitable for the luminescence detection of bisphenols, endocrinedisrupting chemicals, especially BPAF and BPB, in water.
