The oil and gas industry suffers from severe economic impact due to the corrosion of pipelines during the industrial oil-well acidizing process and because of the sweet corrosion of steel. One of the most common solutions to counter this issue is applying organic compounds as corrosion inhibitors. Conventionally used inhibitors are quite cumbersome to synthesize, are costly, and most are toxic. Therefore, there exists a need for research and development of novel, cost-effective, and eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors showing efficient inhibition performance. The present work describes the basics of corrosion, its economic impact, and the main strategies to counter this issue. Fundamentals of sweet corrosion, the mechanism involved, the influence of various governing factors, and the limitations of the existing inhibitor chemistries are explained. Some of the prominent classes of the environmentally benign sweet corrosion inhibitors such as the biopolymers, heterocyclic molecules, and pharmaceutical products are also outlined. First, we note in this paper that alpha-Hydroxyphosphonate acid ester was synthesized before; we confirmed it by a new method and its various properties are discussed experimentally and theoretically. The structure of Diethyl [hydroxy(4-methoxyphenyl) methyl] phosphonate (DH4MPMP) resolved by SXRD is compared to the optimized geometry, the FT-IR, NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopies results were compared and discussed experimentally and theoretically. The Hirshfeld surface analyses were employed to determine qualitative and quantitative intermolecular interactions present in the solid state and through, the supramolecular 3D-network was discussed. The UV-Vis spectrum exhibit a strong absorption in middle UV domain and an optical transmittance in the visible one. To be close from the experimental results, all DFT calculations based on B3LYP/6-31G (d,p) were detailed on monomer and dimer models. The DFT calculation of the second-order nonlinear optical properties is based on the first static hyperpolarizability (beta), the results show that the material might have nonlinear optical properties. The calculated frontier molecular orbitals and their energies were calculated. The research was extended to the calculations of the molecular electrostatic potential map; it shows negative potential areas localized around oxygen atoms as well as the positive localized around the hydrogen atoms. Finally, the thermodynamic functions (entropy, heat capacity and enthalpy) were determined from spectroscopic data by statistical methods in the range 100-1000 K and the experimental thermal decomposition behavior was analyzed by TGA. The conversion of silyloxyarenes to boronic acid pinacol esters via nickel catalysis is described. The effect of catalyst restructuring on the polydopamine-supported Pd catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of ethyl 4-nitrobenzoate and the catalytic hydrogenation of (E)-2-methyl-2-butenoic acid is reported. Transmission electron microscopy investigation of different catalyst pre-treatment and reaction conditions revealed high catalytic activity in both reactions unless drastic aggregation of the active metal occurred. In the transfer hydrogenation reaction aggregation was primarily dependent on the H-source used, while in the catalytic hydrogenation additives in combination with the reductive environment led to extensive Pd aggregation and thus decreased catalytic activity. The enantioselective hydrogenation of (E)-2-methyl-2-butenoic acid showed increased enantioselectivity and decreased conversion with increased particle size.
