The intramolecular [4+2] cycloaddition between arenes and allenes first reported by Himbert gives rapid access to rigid polycyclic scaffolds. Herein, we report a one-pot oxyalkynylation/cycloaddition reaction proceeding under mild conditions (23-90 degrees C) and providing complex polycyclic architectures with high efficiency, and atom and step economy. The bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene products were obtained with a wide variety of useful functional groups and were successfully applied as chiral ligands for metal catalysis. Computational studies gave a first rationalization of the low activation energy for the cycloaddition based on counter-intuitive favorable dispersive interactions in the transition state.

An intramolecular carbometallation of a triple bond promoted by electrochemistry and mediated by nickel catalysis is described. This domino process transforms various aryl halides bearing a propargyl chain into substituted heterocycles in one single operation, with high stereoselectivities and in good to high yields. This reaction, characterized by a cyclic voltammetry set of experiments, proceeds following a syn-exo-dig cyclization process. When run at 80 degrees C, vinylbenzofuranes that are suitable substrates for cycloaddition reactions are obtained.

The C(sp(2)-H)-trifluoromethylation of hydrazones would give access to the alpha-trifluoromethylated hydrazones that can serve as intermediates in the synthesis of pharmaceutically interesting fluorinated compounds. Herein, we demonstrate the Cu-catalyzed C(sp(2)-H)-trifluoromethylation of the aldehyde hydrazones using the readily available and cost effective Langlois reagent (sodium trifluoromethanesulfinate). This reaction is broadly applicable to a series of aromatic aldehyde N-aminomorpholine hydrazones to give the corresponding C(sp(2))-trifluoromethyl hydrazones in moderate to high yields. The reaction generally tolerates a series of electron-releasing as well as electron-withdrawing substituents on the aromatic ring.

This investigation mainly focuses on the characteristic study on combustion, performance and emission of gasoline blended with lower order alcohol, i.e. ethanol and higher order alcohol, i.e. benzyl alcohol in the ratio of 10% and 20% by volume of the overall quantity. These two alcohols were blended with gasoline and investigated solely to find the comparison between higher and lower order alcohols and thus to identify the optimum blend based on the performance and emission characteristics. The blends were tested in a commercial two-cylinder 624 cc gasoline engine with multi-point fuel injection (MPFI) system and data acquisition capability. The fuel blends were tested at different loads ranging from 20% to 100% with a step size of 20% in ascending sequence. At full load, higher alcohol blend showed an improvement in brake thermal efficiency (BTE) of 32.8% and 33.2% for Bn10 and Bn20, when compared to neat gasoline 29.77% and BTE of lower alcohol registered a slight improvement in comparison to gasoline, i.e. 30.41% and 31.1% for E10 and E20 respectively. HC emissions were reduced to 70 ppm and 57 ppm for lower and higher alcohol blends respectively, which is lower compared to 88 ppm for gasoline. CO and CO2 emissions were reduced with both lower and higher alcohol blends in comparison with neat gasoline. NOx emissions show a reduction nature with alcohol blends when compared to neat gasoline at all the load conditions. It is perceived that based on the performance, emission and combustion characteristics, higher alcohol namely benzyl alcohol blend with gasoline is optimum.

Net selective bromination and chlorination of activated C-H bonds can be effected in generally high yield via a simple perhalogenation/dehalogenation sequence. The photochemical reductions require no photocatalyst, relying instead on the formation of an electron donor-acceptor complex of the substrate and reductant, or alternatively autophotocatalysis. Some reactions proceed despite any apparent photon absorption, serving as a cautionary tale for other photochemical reactions involving amines. Mechanistic experiments provide an explanation for this observation.

A series of unsymmetrical 1,3-disubstituted benzimidazolium chlorides were synthesized as N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) precursors. These compounds were used for synthesis of the new ruthenium(II) complexes of the type [RuCl2(arene)(NHC)], (arene = eta(6)-p-cymene). The structures of all compounds were characterized by H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy techniques. The catalytic activity of the ruthenium complexes has been evaluated with respect to the mono-N-alkylation reactions of aromatic amines with various alcohol derivatives under solvent-free conditions at 120 degrees C using the borrowing hydrogen strategy.

COA of Formula: C7H8O2. I found the field of Chemistry very interesting. Saw the article ARS-TiO2 photocatalyzed direct functionalization of sp2 C-H bonds toward thiocyanation and cyclization reactions under visible light published in 2020.0, Reprint Addresses Hosseini-Sarvari, M (corresponding author), Shiraz Univ, Dept Chem, Shiraz 7194684795, Iran.. The CAS is 150-19-6. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of m-Methoxyphenol.

An ARS-TiO2 photocatalyst has been prepared, by a simple method through stirring a mixture of ARS and TiO2 at room temperature in the dark, to extend the photocatalytic response of titanium dioxide toward the visible light spectrum. The synergic effect of ARS and TiO2 in the photocatalyst system has catalyzed direct C-H functionalization of sp2 C-H bonds toward thiocyanation and cyclization reactions. Several aromatic and heteroaromatic scaffolds (2-phenylamino-thiazole, phenol, aniline, indole and pyrrole derivatives) were treated with the thiocyanate anion at room temperature. Herein, the first report on thiocyanation of phenol and synthesis of 2-aminobenzothiazole derivatives under visible light is presented.
